What we hadn’t seen previously, however, is just how pretty the emulator could make the game look on PC, but a new software patch has fixed many of the technical hitches - like invisible grass and water - and when the resolution is bumped all the way to 4K, it looks just plain fantastic. Sure, it's not too dissimilar to the process I use to grab stuff from the BBC, but that feels a bit more justifiable because of the nature of broadcast TV and the existence of the TV license (which I would totally pay even if I lived elsewhere just to be able to access the BBC library). I really wish there was a simple way to legitimately rip WiiU discs for use in cemu rather than having to go through sketchier means. The Wii U and Nintendo Switch versions of Zelda: Breath of the Wild run at either 720p or 900p resolutions depending on whether the Switch is docked or not, but some fresh updates to Wii U.

While we must give credit for impressive technical prowess, and watching the game play in a full 4K, the emulator scene continues to be a shady area that just skirts Nintendo use rules as a playground for pirates. Even the new DLC Pack 1 for the game works well.

According to a post on NeoGAF, CemU's latest update has made the complete jump to a full 4K experience with little distortion or frame-rate slowdowns. The newest release has made substantial progress since the game was released back on March 3. The result is a CemU Update 1.8.1b and getting Link in full 4K resolution from the beginning of the game to the end. But since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild came out for the console, CemU has pushed to perfect the game for those trying to stick it to the Nintendo suits for not bringing the game to their beloved platform. We aren't a big fan of the CemU Wii U emulator here at Shacknews, despite being a fan of PC games in general.
